Applying and enrolling @ Laney

Q: How can I apply and enroll at Laney College?
A: You can find apply and enroll steps on our Apply & Enroll and this Infographic lists the steps to enroll. There are also help available at the Welcome Center, A-101.

 

Q: Where is the Admissions Office?
A: The Admissions & Records Office is located in Room A-109.

 

Q: How do I get a permission number so I can attend class?
A: You need to contact the instructor in person to get a permission number if you want to add a class after it has started. Read about all steps in the Add a Class Process.

 

Q: How do I pay for my classes?
A: You can pay in person at the Cashier’s Office or online through Peralta Passport. Check out the Payment Options & Policies.

 

Q: How do I read locations in the schedule of classes?
A: The Peralta district includes four individual colleges. Each has its own one letter code:

  • Laney = L,
  • Berkely City College = B,
  • Merritt College = M,
  • and
  • College of Alameda = A.

The campus designation is followed by the building and room number, for example:

  • A-B 106 is Building B, room 106 at College of Alameda
  • L-E 211 refers to Building E, room 211 at Laney College

Cashier's Office/Bursar Services
A: The Cashier’s Office, also known as Bursar Services is located in A-201.

 

Counselor's Office
A: Counseling is located on the third floor of the Tower Building. (510)464-3152 and (510)464-3154

 

Disabled Student Programs & SErvices (DSPS)
A: Laney Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) office is in Building E, room E-251.

 

Extended Opportunity Program & Services (EOPS)
A: The office of Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS) offers many different types of support for students who experience language or social or economic difficulties. Their office is located in A-106. To learn more about their services or to set up an appointment you can call them at (510) 464-3423 or email them at LaneyCollegeEOPS@peralta.edu.

 

Financial Aid Office
A: The Financial Aid Office is located ion A-201

 

Instructional Media Center (IMC)
A: The IMC is located on the lower level of the Laney College Library (L-115) for printing teaching materials.

 

Veteran's Resource Center
A: The Veteran’s Resource Center is located in Room E-260.

 

Welcome Center
A: The Welcome Center is located in A-101 (510)464-3540
They help students to apply for the college, add/drop courses, fill-out financial aid application, take photo ID, and more.

 

Wellness Center
A: You can call the Nurse at (510) 464-3516 or check services on the Campus Wellness Center in the Tower Building, T- 250.

 

Tutoring Services

Q: Where can I find tutoring services at Laney?
A: Laney College provides tutoring for many subjects through the Student Success Center (formerly the Tutoring Resource Center)  located in the Eagle Village, EV-1 and checks the schedule for their hours. Asking your instructor about tutoring resources attaching to the class.

 

Q: Where do I go for Math tutoring?
A: Math tutoring is available in the Math Lab, G-201 and check the website for their hours and contacts.

 

Q: Where do I go for English tutoring?
A: Tutoring for English and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is available in the James Oliver Community Writing Center, B-260. Please check the website for their hours and contacts.

 

Student Center

Q: Where is the bookstore?
A: The Laney Bookstore is located on the lower level of the Student Center. Check the website for hours and course materials.

 

Q: Is there an ATM on campus?
A: There is an ATM in the dining hall in the Student Center.

 

Q: Where is the Cafeteria?
A: The Cafeteria is located on the first floor of the Student Center. It offers from Monday - Friday

  • Breakfast from 8am to 10am
  • Grab and Go between 8am and 6:30pm
  • Grill and Hot Lunches from 11:45am – 1:45pm

 

Q: Is there a microwave for students to use?
A: Students have access to a microwave in the dining hall in the Student Center.

 

Bistro

Q: Where is the Bistro?
A: The Laney Bistro is located on the first floor of the E building. The entrance is facing the sports complex. It is typically open M – F 11:45 am – 1 pm, except for the first and last week of each semester.

 

Computers and Printings

Q: Where are computer labs on campus?
A: Computers are available for student use and check each webpage for hours:

 

 

Q: What are printing services on campus?
A: Printing services on campus and require the student ID number. Please respect their policies or changes

  • Technology Center, F-170 [*10 free pages per day limit]
  • CIS Open Lab, G-273, [*15 free pages per day limit]
  • Laney College Library, [10¢ per page]

 

 

Q: Is there a photocopy machine for students to use?
A: The Laney College Library has two photocopy machines, 10¢ per page.

 

Q: Is there a fax machine for students to use on campus?
A: Unfortunately not.

 

Campus life

Q: Where to get the current student sticker?
A: Please go to the Welcome Center, located in A-101, to get your current semester student sticker.

 

Q: What services to get at the Wellness Center?
A: Students can get aspirin or vitamins, band-aids or cough drops, massage or acupuncture at the Laney Wellness Center I, currently located in the Tower Building, T-250.

 

Q: What is L-AC on the class schedule?
A: L-AC stands for Laney – Art Center. The Art Center is located on the Southside of campus across from the auditorium.

 

Q: Where is the Art Gallery?
A: The Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Tower Building. See fliers on campus or their events page for dates and times of exhibits.

 

Q: Are there bike racks on campus?
A: Laney College has a number of bike racks across the campus. We are in an urban area, so make sure you have a secure and tough lock.

 

Q: Are there all-gender restrooms on campus?
A: Laney has all-gender bathrooms in many different locations. Please check the list and map

 

Q: Is there FREE or Low-Cost resources on campus?
A: You can check the Student Activities and Campus Life for FREE or Low-Cost resources, and there is a Laney College Resource Guide.

 

Peralta District

Q: Where is the Peralta District Office?
A: The address for the PCCD office is 333 East 8th Street, Oakland, CA, 94606.

 

Q: Can a student check out books from any libraries in the district?
A: Yes, all Peralta students can check out books from any Peralta libraries, no matter where they take classes. This includes the Laney College Library, the Merritt College Library, The College of Alameda Library, and the Berkeley City College library.
